  • Try to be all things to all people
  • Get caught up on technological advancement
  • Expect to be a leader in your first year
  • Forget the difference between the user and the buyer (you need them both)
  • Trust lead generation campaigns to close any business
  • Put out a webinar or whitepaper and expect to close any business
  • Create too many obstacles

DO

  • Interact with customers and people who look like your customers
  • Be willing to throw away something that doesn’t work
  • Ensure everyone on the team can recognize value and reasons for doing something
  • Communicate with users and open up feedback channels
  • Research the world around you including competition or tangential competition
  • Simplify as much as possible
  • Think like a noob once in awhile
